The following document contains information for making a chlorophyll solution. You may use this solution to demonstrate the concept of fluorescence to your students. Start by explaining how you prepared the solution. Show the students that in natural light, the solution has a vibrant green colour. Turn off all lights in the room, and use a strong light source such as that of an overhead projector to place the solution near it. Ensure that the students are not in direct pathway of the strong light. The solution will turn a dark, bloody red. You may lead a discussion as to why this happens!
